The Ambassador for SafetyŽ Award
Introduction
Safe Communities Canada established the Ambassador for Safety® Award in 2007. The purpose of this award is to permit designated members of Safe Communities Canada to recognize and celebrate key contributors to their Leadership Tables during the past year.
Ambassador for Safety® Award recipients are selected locally and endorsed nationally. Each community in Canada may nominate and select recipients for one, two, or all of the three categories of Ambassador for Safety Awards:
- Ambassador for Safety®-Volunteer Partner
(An individual citizen in your community ) - Ambassador for Safety®--Business Partner
(A business or local industry in your community) - Ambassador for Safety®—Community Service Partner
(A community group, government entity or not-for- profit organization in your community )
National Ambassadors for Safety
For each Ambassador category, Safe Communities Canada will select, from the pool of local recipients we endorse, a national Ambassador for Safety® who will accept the award on behalf of all the community Ambassadors for Safety across the country.
The Process
Any citizen in any community that is a Designated Member of Safe Communities Canada may nominate a volunteer, a local business supporter, or a local community service organization for this award. All nominations for the three categories go to the Safe Community Leadership Table for review and selection. Once local Ambassador for Safety® Award recipients have been selected, the Safe Community Leadership Table will forward the name of the recipient in each category to Safe Communities Canada for national endorsement. This endorsement will consist of a certificate of recognition signed jointly be Safe Communities Canada and an appropriate officer of the Safe Community Leadership Table.
These certificates will be presented to the winners on Safe Communities Day.
