CN Safe Communities Grants 2012
CN, in partnership with Safe Communities Canada, provides eligible safe communities across Canada with grants to help develop and sustain local initiatives that help raise public awareness about risk reduction and safety on railways and CN railway property (crossings, tracks and rail yards). Each year, CN and Safe Communities Canada distribute $25,000 to designated communities in the Safe Communities Canada network whose applications meet the grant eligibility and criteria.
CN Safe Community Grant Eligibility
1. Grants are only available to designated communities of the Safe Communities Canada network and only applications from communities of the Safe Communities Canada Network for its programs and services will be considered. It is not necessary that CN service the specific community in order to be eligible to apply for a grant.
2. Each year, preference for the grants is given to communities who are applying for support for new, innovative and measurable initiatives that focus on risk reduction, safety and railways.
3. Communities re-applying for grants for continuing initiatives are also eligible, but they must meet the specified criteria and have provided a grant summary report of the results from the previous CN Safe Community Grant allocation.
CN Safe Community Grant Criteria
1. Grant criteria are based on the attached template, which is based on the Prevention Planning Matrix, introduced in On the Right Track for Rail Safety, a community resource produced by Safe Kids Canada, and underwritten by CN.
2. Communities re-applying for a CN Safe Community Grant must have provided a grant summary report on previous initiatives funded by the grant as well as outlining new and innovative initiatives in the specified format.
3. Application must describe how a potential grant will be used in the 2012 calendar year to help sustain the identified project(s) or safety effort(s) to deliver/reach identified project goals.
