Pan Pacific Safe Communties Network

Safe Communities Canada is proud to announce the formal launch of the Pan Pacific Safe Communities Network (PPSCN), a regional network of the International Safe Communities movement. The Pan Pacific Network is comprised of Safe Communities in Australia, New Zealand, The United States and Canada. One of the unique features of the PPSCN is that it includes every designated Safe Community in each country. In Canada, this means that every Canadian Safe Community is a member of the Pan Pacific Network.

Another unique feature of the network is that it mandates community participation in its governance structure. The founding certifying centres-- the Australian Safe Communities Foundation, the Safe Communities Foundation of New Zealand, Safe Communities America, and Safe Communities Canada---are convinced that having community voices at the heart of its organizational structure will ensure that Pan Pacific Safe Communities Network becomes a relevant and valuable resource for each community in each country. The
Memorandum of Understanding--the network's founding document-- outlines the structure and values of the Pan Pacific Safe Communities Network.
